Students’ Supervisor (full-time)

Centennial Academy is looking for a full-time bilingual students’ supervisor for the 2022-2023 school year (with possibility of extension next school year).

The opportunity

Schedule: Must be available Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m.

Salary Scale: starting from $22/hr

Responsibilities :

  • Monitor students when they arrive at school in the morning, during breaks, lunch break, after school and during the day when students are outside of class (e.g.: bathroom breaks)
  • Ensure compliance with school regulations and students’ safety
  • Give warnings to students when necessary and report regulatory violations to designated persons
  • Clearly explain the rules to students when necessary
  • Be consistent in your interventions with students
  • Perform any other task assigned by the Head Supervisor or management
  • Substitution might be required occasionally

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in an education program (important asset)
  • Experience working directly with students in an educational environment (important asset)
  • Completion of a secondary school diploma.
  • Fluency in English and French. (excellent communication skills)
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a wide range of students’ behaviors.

Human Ressources Advisor

ABOUT CENTENNIAL:

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, the Human Resources Advisor will be responsible for managing the complete recruitment cycle for unionized and non-unionized employees of the school and will act as the HR point of contact for Centennial employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the complete recruitment cycle (from job posting to onboarding)
  • Implement employee attraction and retention strategies
  • Participate in the management of the CNESST, and pay equity
  • Participate in the annual employee performance review
  • Participate in the creation of internal salary scales
  • Act as a resource person for employees
  • Participate in the labor relations committee with the union
  • Develop various employee management tools: employee handbook, policies and programs
  • Carry out task analyses and draft job descriptions
  • Support managers in their relationship with their employees
  • Know in depth and apply at all times the collective agreement and applicable laws
  • Collaborate with the payroll team in the management of the compensation and benefits process

Requirements:

  • Hold an undergraduate university degree in human resources, industrial relations, or any other discipline deemed relevant

Our learning development coaches are the core of the Centennial experience and play a vital role in helping students improve their academic results, social language skills, confidence and overall well-being. As a Centennial Learning Development Coach, you will be assigned a group of students.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing coaching to students throughout the day using Centennial’s learning, social and emotional indicators
  • Be a constant presence and available resource to your assigned students
  • Develop positive relationships/ build rapport with students while following protocols and maintaining boundaries
  • Provide feedback to other members of Student Success team and teachers, in an organized framework. Meet with teaching staff regularly for reflective discussions, providing constructive feedback, and planning
  • Flag inconsistencies/ anomalies in a timely manner
  • Attend collaborative coaching meetings
  • Use coaching data to improve and plan interventions
  • Supervise student during lunch, clubs and class transitions as part of social observation
  • Enter data into the assigned systems
  • Substitute as needed
  • Take part in the summer catch-up program
  • Participate in study hall after school
  • Participate in events outside of your normal working hours when required (ex: Open House, BBQ for New Students, etc.)

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or certificate in Education, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Inclusive Education, or any related field.
  • Coaching experience based on practice and/or pedagogy in an educational environment.
  • Bilingualism (French and English)
  • Expertise in learning and development and knowledge of brain development, behavioral assessment, self-regulation techniques, mindfulness strategies.
  • Strong communication skills. Be able to establish positive connections and relationships with students. Active listening and empathic response
  • Computer skills. Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and Teams.

Curriculum Developer (part-time)

Your role:

Reporting to the Head of School, you will be responsible for ensuring the continuous monitoring, review and renewal of curriculum at Centennial Academy. You will works closely with department leaders, assisting them and teachers with curriculum development, material development and learning approaches to support and enhance learning. You will supports professional learning by actively researching curricular trends and by developing materials and templates consistent with the school’s mission and overall academic goals.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Designs and coordinates curriculum development
  • Ensures that curriculum and instructional practices are reviewed continuously
  • In collaboration with department leaders, ensures that the school’s overall academic goals are promoted and integrated within and across departments
  • Works with department leaders and teachers to develop, guide, and support curricular innovation, including the development of new approaches and materials
  • Maintains a current knowledge of curricular trends and research, reporting findings and making recommendations to the Administration
  • Supports and promotes interdisciplinary curriculum initiatives
  • Makes recommendations to administration regarding professional learning opportunities related to curriculum and instruction
  • Organizes and leads annual summer training for new teachers
  • Participates in faculty meetings and give presentations when necessary

Knowledge/Skills:

  • A Master of Arts in education and curriculum or a Master of Arts in educational technology and curriculum
  • Bilingualism (French-English)

Social Worker

Your role:

Reporting to the Director of Student Success and Coach development, you will ensure that parents are familiar and aligned to the Centennial’s approach to learning and bridge the gap between the school and parents who require a deeper understanding of its benefits for their child. You will also provide new parents with an orientation to Centennial and its approach as well as assess and provide parents both individually and in groups, strategies to set limits, plan home routines and monitor social medial.

Responsibilities:

  • Support families, conduct assessments and provide parent with tools to help optimize the learning, achievement and well-being of their child
  • Provide counselling guidance and support to parents, as required
  • Advocate on behalf of the school and the school’s approach and vision, as required
  • Provide new parent orientation and monitor parent integration
  • Provide strategies to parents who are struggling to set limits at home
  • Provide workshops and info sessions to support groups of parents, as required

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree or certification in social work or social service.
  • Fluency in English and French (excellent communication skills)
  • Experience working with parents in an educational environment is an asset
  • Professionalism, good interpersonal skills and attention to details
  • Must be able to contribute actively to a team
