Our Vision

To distinguish ourselves as the leading school that provides students with the skills to overcome the challenges of learning

Celebrating the Individual Learner!

At Centennial we don’t define students by their challenges; we focus on the student’s ability to learn. Whether the student is faced with dyslexia, ADHD, ASD, dysgraphia, or struggle with social and/or academic anxieties, all we see are teenagers with strong potential. We know what they need: strategies, consistency, and support.

From grade 7 to 11, our students follow a structured learning path that accentuates their strengths and provides them with effective and repetitive strategies that mitigate their challenges.

With a rise in stress-related anxieties due to academic and societal pressures, now more than ever, Centennial Academy’s approach is exactly what students need. High school is hard to navigate for students with a different learning profile. At Centennial, we aim to remove the stressors that can trigger school related anxiety and lead to behavioral issues, difficulties concentrating in the classroom and a whole variety of other academic social and emotional challenges.

Since 1969, Centennial Academy is on a mission to change education by transforming how our students learn. We are champions for students let down by the traditional school system. With a 90% graduation rate, Centennial Academy has proven that students don’t fail, schools fail students.

We don’t define students by their learning difficulties or challenges

We focus on the student’s ability to learn. Whether the student is faced with dyslexia, ADHD, ASD, dysgraphia, or struggle with social and academic anxieties, these teens are highly intelligent with strong potential who require strategies, consistency, and support to succeed.

From grade 7 to 11, our students follow a structured learning path that accentuates their strengths and provides them with effective and repetitive strategies that mitigate their challenges.

We remove barriers to learning

School can be stressful for students who struggle with organization, have academic or social anxieties, or have diagnosed learning challenges. At Centennial Academy, we remove all barriers to learning and support students in an inclusive, structured, routine-based environment.

1. We see all students as potential successful learners

We focus on learning, not grades. When effective learning behaviours are mastered, grades will follow.

2. We are building and leading a learning revolution

We’ve created, adopted and perfected a better way to learn through our coached learning development process.

3. We are Quebec-based learning pioneers

Traditional classrooms employ a medical model where students with learning difficulties or other challenges have a “problem” that must be individually addressed by a specialist outside the classroom.

Not at Centennial Academy.

Instead, we focus on effectively teaching all students through a structured, school-wide approach. Students in all classes automatically receive the required accommodations, learning strategies, and targeted feedback. Considered a social learning model, we pioneered use of the Coached Learning Development Model and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles – making learning inclusive for all students. Additional accommodations may be required on an individual basis.

4. Our approach is not new, but is revolutionary

Modelled after athletic coaching programs and adopted by many elite American universities, we consistently focus on coaching and learning, individual feedback, structure and repetitive routines – with every teacher in every class, using the same approach and language. Learn more about our unique, innovative approach to learning.

5. We train our teachers to facilitate learning

Traditional teaching fails students. So, we designed our own teaching program and train all our teachers to systematically apply our learning models and principles – this means that all teachers of all subjects and grades, apply the same Coached Learning Development Model so that students – regardless of diagnosis – receive consistent and structured coaching to foster learning.

Our Focus

Our approach is focused on learning behaviors that helps struggling students regain their self-confidence to get back on their feet and, ultimately, improves grades.

Our Academic Approach

Our teachers support students through daily data collection and rigorous analysis. Our unique academic approach encourages greater student autonomy and understanding.
