Montreal, December 1, 2025 — After dedicating 27 years to passionately leading Centennial Academy, Angela Burgos has announced to our Board of Directors, staff, families, and community that she will retire next June.
This decision marks the conclusion of an exceptional career dedicated to our school and to the success of thousands of students. For nearly three decades, Angela has guided Centennial Academy with commitment, vision, and a deep conviction: every student deserves a structured, supportive, and adapted learning environment in which they can reach their full potential.
Since assuming the role of Head of School, Angela has profoundly transformed our school by developing an innovative educational approach grounded in current scientific knowledge. This integrated approach, focused on learning behaviors and Universal Design for Learning (UDL), allows students with learning difficulties to develop autonomy, resilience, and essential skills for their success. Thanks to this model, now a cornerstone of Centennial Academy’s pedagogical identity, many students have overcome challenges, progressed at their own pace, and achieved what they never thought possible. In parallel, she created and strengthened the Francophone sector, which now represents half of the school and fully contributes to its diversity and vitality. “Deciding to leave Centennial Academy has not been easy. This school, the students, families, and staff have been part of my life for 27 years. I have had the privilege of supporting a resilient, passionate community deeply committed to the success of children.
I leave with a heart full of gratitude and the certainty that Centennial Academy will continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students,” says Angela Burgos.
Aware of the importance of this pivotal moment, the Board of Directors, in partnership with a specialized recruitment firm, has established a succession committee that will ensure the ideal candidate is selected to succeed Ms. Burgos. Our priority is clear: to preserve the essence and mission of Centennial Academy, while ensuring a smooth transition with parents, students, and staff, and maintaining sound management for the years to come.
Angela Burgos will remain fully engaged until the end of her mandate, and the position of Head of School will be posted shortly. “Ms. Burgos has dedicated her career to creating a school where every student can thrive, find their path, and develop confidence. Her commitment and vision have profoundly shaped Centennial Academy as we know it today. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to express our deep appreciation and wish her a retirement filled with exciting new projects and wonderful discoveries,” says Martine Desjardins, Chair of the Board of Directors.
With its bold vision, innovative educational approach, and a committed and strong team, Centennial Academy will approach this transition with confidence, determined to continue providing comprehensive support to students and to offer an environment conducive to success and personal growth.
