In the summer of 1951, James Logan, John Parker, and Louis Thomaschuk founded the Annex Coaching School, a small learning centre, helping high school students prepare for the supplemental ministry exams.
James Logan and John Parker quickly realized that the approach they were using at this coaching school should be expanded into a full academic program.
Centennial Academy opened its doors in September of 1969 with an enrolment of 63 students.
Barry Stevens became Head of School in 1981 and guided, supported and helped Centennial Academy grow until his retirement in 1998.
Angela Burgos became Centennial Academy's Head of School in 1998. The past several years have marked a period of reflection, renewal, and reinvention at Centennial Academy. A wide range of student success services, collaborative and innovative teaching and learning strategies have been realized to ensure that learning takes place and students become lifelong learners. By becoming a school that changes students' and families’ lives, we continue to be a leader in conquering the challenges of learning.
